For the Kursk operation, Captain Mykola Stryhunov was awarded the title Hero of Ukraine and the “Gold Star.” Under his command, his company broke through the border in the area of the Sudzha checkpoint, took control of the town of Sudzha itself and seven other settlements in Russia. “Stryzh” himself was wounded, but managed to eliminate up to two dozen Russian soldiers. Now his company is fighting on the Russia–Ukraine border in the Sumy region, to stop Russian forces from advancing toward the regional center and to push them back across the state border on this section of the front.
