Conan O’Brien on Hosting the Oscars Again & the Letterman Bit That Would Have Ended His Career Conan talks about hosting the Oscars for the second time, testing out his jokes at comedy clubs, not being able to write a good joke about the movie Train Dreams, his preparation for the show, not getting a Best Supporting Actor nod for his role in If I Had Legs I’d Kick You, doing a lot of scenes with Rose Byrne who is nominated for Best Actress, being in Toy Story 5, whether or not he likes being a talk show guest, doing Letterman and pitching a bit that would have ended his career, being 100% Irish, and getting emotional when he visited his great grandfather’s house in Ireland.
