Farhan Akhtar on 25 Years in Cinema, Don 3, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag & More

Farhan Akhtar joins Anupama Chopra on The Hollywood Reporter India's League of Excellence, powered by BMW India, to celebrate 25 years in the movies — from his landmark debut with Dil Chahta Hai to building Excel Entertainment with Ritesh Sidhwani into one of Indian cinema's most distinctive production houses. Farhan reflects on his multi-hyphenate career spanning acting, directing, producing, writing, singing, and fronting a rock band. He opens up about the Don 3 setback, why Lakshya's box office reception stung but ultimately taught him that good work always finds its audience, and the enduring influence of films like Deewaar and the writing of Salim-Javed. He also breaks news on the Sam Mendes Beatles project, where he plays Pandit Ravi Shankar in the George Harrison film, and discusses the long road back to directing with Jee Le Zaraa. From the irresistible challenge of Bhaag Milkha Bhaag to his famously competitive streak at board games, his belief that Zoya Akhtar is the better director in the family, and the one thing that keeps him grounded — his creative voice — this is a wide-ranging, candid conversation about a career built on instinct, resilience, and artistry. #FarhanAkhtar #BhaagMilkhaBhaag #ExcelEntertainment #HollywoodReporterIndia #Don3 #Lykstage #LykstageVideo #LykstageCreator #LykstageCommunity
