Michael Jackson Biopic Review — Does the Film Deserve All the Hate? | MICHAEL: ¿Merece Tanto Odio?

The Michael Jackson biopic "MICHAEL" has arrived on the big screen — and Hector Portillo (Señor HP) breaks down whether the film truly deserves its reputation as one of the worst movies of 2026. This in-depth Spanish-language review covers the controversies surrounding the production, divided audience and critic reactions, Paris Jackson's public criticism, and how it compares to other major biopics. Hector analyses the film's safe and risk-free storytelling, its lack of depth and character development, pacing and narrative issues, and the widely criticised third act. He also examines standout elements including Coleman Domingo's portrayal of Joseph Jackson, the film's aesthetics and period production design, and the iconic MJ music woven throughout. A full segment is dedicated to Jaafar Jackson's performance as Michael Jackson himself — one of the most talked-about casting choices in recent memory. The review also tackles the controversial omission of the abuse allegations, the critics-vs-fans divide, and ends with Hector's personal verdict.
