Performative Reading, Book Girlies & the Aesthetification of Books

Explore the rise of performative reading, "book girlies," and how social media has turned books into an aesthetic — where shelves, covers, and trends often rival the stories themselves. This video digs into the visual culture surrounding reading communities on BookTok and BookTube, asking whether the pressure to curate a perfect reading identity is helping people discover literature or quietly reshaping the purpose of reading altogether. Whether you're an avid reader, a BookTok fan, or just curious about modern reading culture, this thoughtful discussion examines the fine line between genuine passion for books and the performance of it — and what that means for how we choose, buy, and share what we read. #BookTok #ReadingCulture #BookGirlies #BookTube #BookDiscussion #Lykstage #LykstageVideo #LykstageCreator #LykstageCommunity
