The Viewer’s Share Doesn’t Come Out of the Creator’s Pocket

When we said we’d share advertising value with viewers, the smartest people in the room all said the same thing: don’t cut the viewers in. It’ll come out of the creator’s pocket. It doesn’t — and that’s the part worth understanding. On LYKSTAGE, the creator’s share is allocated first, from the ad revenue their content generates. Only then is a portion of what remains distributed among eligible logged-in viewers, based on their watch time. The viewer’s share never reduces the creator’s. It isn’t a split of the same slice — it’s a different slice entirely. Here’s why we bothered. Advertisers pay for one thing: attention. That attention comes from viewers. Yet in the model everyone inherited, the viewer — the origin of the whole value chain — got nothing. We kept being told that’s just how video works. But “how it works” is almost always a design choice that hardened into an assumption. Someone decided years ago that viewers weren’t economic participants, and nobody had revisited it since. So we did. Two things mattered. It had to be funded by real ad revenue, not subsidy — every reward is a share of the revenue the watching itself creates, paid in LYK Coins with real US dollar value. And it had to be honest about its limits: watch logged out, and the creator still earns fully — the viewer just doesn’t get their own share. We built that in, and we say it plainly. It’s early, and I’d rather be honest than triumphant. But aligning the incentives didn’t degrade the platform. It’s what made the good behaviour effortless. We made the viewer part of the economics because it was the honest design, not the easy one. And I’d make the same call again. See how it works → apps.lykstage.com/lskx/Marketing Real attention. Real value. For everyone. #CreatorEconomy #ViewerRewards #WatchTime #LYKCoins #FounderPOV #LYKSTAGE
