Ted Bundy didn't look like a killer — and that was exactly what made him so dangerous. Handsome, articulate, and a law student with a bright future, Bundy used his charm and non-threatening appearance to approach women in broad daylight, often faking an injury like a broken arm or a limp to ask for help. Once a victim got close enough — to help carry books, or assist him with his car — he would strike, overpowering them before they had any chance to react. Between 1974 and 1978, Bundy is confirmed to have killed at least 30 young women across multiple states, including Washington, Utah, Colorado, and Florida, though many investigators believe the true number could be significantly higher. Bundy was arrested multiple times, but famously escaped police custody twice — once by jumping out of a courthouse window, and again by crawling through a hole in his cell ceiling. His final escape led him to Florida, where he carried out one of the most violent and sudden attacks of his killing spree at a university sorority house. He was finally captured in February 1978. During his trial, Bundy chose to act as his own defense attorney, remaining eerily calm and composed even while cross-examining witnesses to his own crimes. He was executed in 1989, after confessing to over 30 murders in his final days — a number many believe was still far from complete. 📸 Photo credits: Public domain news archives & Google Images.
