On September 19, 2026, two minor Class 10 students—a girl and her male friend—were stopped, surrounded, and violently harassed by a group of men while returning from a coaching class near the Marwa Pahad area in the Jamui district. The men subjected the teenagers to assault and molestation under the guise of "moral policing" A highly disturbing video of the incident went viral on social media on September 21, showing the minors crying and pleading to be let go while the culprits dragged the girl away and beat the boy. The video sparked massive public outrage across the country and led to intense political scrutiny over the state's law-and-order situation FIR and Charges: The police registered a First Information Report (FIR) invoking strict provisions under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). A Special Investigation Team (SIT) was formed, leading to the successful apprehension of all seven key accused identified in the video. Police Encounter: During the arrest operations, the prime accused—identified as Nandan Yadav—and another accomplice tried to evade custody, resulting in an encounter where the police shot them in the leg before bringing them into custody.
