Online Harassment of Women Cricketers: The Ugly Truth About Trolling

Women cricketers are facing a surge of targeted cyberbullying, body-shaming, and misogynistic abuse on social media — even as the sport reaches historic new heights. Unlike male athletes who are largely criticised for performance alone, female players are routinely attacked for their appearance, clothing, and lifestyle choices by anonymous troll accounts and hyper-partisan fandoms. This video unpacks the toxic culture of online harassment directed at women in cricket, the psychological toll it takes on athletes representing their countries, and why social media platforms must be held to far greater accountability. Addressing this dark reality demands a collective rejection of digital hostility and stronger protections to keep women's cricket a safe, inclusive, and empowering space for the next generation of athletes. #WomensCricket #OnlineHarassment #CyberBullying #WomenInSports #GenderBias #Lykstage #LykstageVideo #LykstageCreator #LykstageCommunity
