Learn how to grow Streptocarpus (Cape Primrose) in containers and keep them thriving year-round with expert overwintering tips. Streptocarpus, or Cape Primrose, is one of the most rewarding flowering houseplants you can grow in pots. These velvety, orchid-like blooms thrive in bright, indirect light and flower continuously from spring through autumn. For best results, plant in shallow containers with a well-draining, airy potting mix, allow the topsoil to dry between waterings to prevent crown rot, and feed regularly with a diluted high-potash fertiliser during the growing season. When autumn arrives, bring outdoor containers inside before the first frost and place them in a bright, cool spot kept between 10 and 15 degrees Celsius. During this semi-dormant period, stop fertilising completely, cut back watering to just enough to prevent wilting, and remove spent flower stalks and faded foliage to keep plants tidy and mould-free. Follow these simple adjustments and your Streptocarpus will reward you with a vigorous burst of fresh growth when spring returns. #Streptocarpus #CapePrimrose #ContainerGardening #HouseplantCare #OverwinteringPlants #Lykstage #LykstageVideo #LykstageCreator #LykstageCommunity
