The Poorva Express (Bengali: পূর্ব এক্সপ্রেস, Hindi: पूर्वा एक्स्प्रेस) is a daily superfast express train of Indian Railways, running between Howrah, West Bengal, and New Delhi, the capital city of India. The name Poorva signifies the eastern part of India. It is a very good train after Rajdhani for travelers of Bihar, Jharkhand & West Bengal. This train started in 1956 as the first fully air-conditioned train between Amritsar-Howrah/Bombay and was initially called "Air-Conditioned Exp". There were 2 pairs of trains - 1 went from Amritsar-Bombay and the other from Amritsar-Howrah. Both passed through New Delhi. New Delhi - Howrah. Initially, there was only one route going as 81/82 Exp through the Grand Chord(Mughal Sarai(Near Varanasi)-Gaya(for Bodhgaya)-Dhanbad(Coalfields)-Asansol(in WB)-HWH) 2303 UP Poorva in early 2000(or maybe 1999) and the train was double-headed by a pair of WDM2s between Chittaranjan(CRJ)-MGS, Would like to add that 103up/104dn popularly known as Delux and officially known as air conditioned express was hauled by steam locomotive between Howrah and Mughal Sarai. This is fag end of 70s and beginning of 80s The Train has been allotted a 22 coach rake of LHB Coaches, which started running from 30 April 2013 on allotment basis The Allotment of LHB Rake for first 1 month is like this.
