Aruppukottai is a Municipality Town in Virudhunagar district in the state of Tamil Nadu, India. This Town is about 50 km from Madurai City and around 20 Km from District Capital Virudhunagar. It is in the middle of Madurai-Tuticorin National Highways NH-38. Aruppukottai was part of king Sethupathi of Ramnad. King Sethupathi has Zamin Palace in Palyampatti. Aruppukottai is well known for its high quality educational institutions. As of 2011, the town had a population of 87,722. Aruppukottai is well connected by roads in all directions. Buses are frequently available to Madurai, Virudhunagar, Tuticorin, Rameshwaram, etc., it has two bus terminus New bustand and Old bustand.
