'Timirmaya Nibir Nisha' is a brilliant example of Tagore's 'Bhanga Gaan' derived from 'Prabal-dal Megh. . .', a Dhrupad in raag Megh and Jhaptaal. This song was composed in 1910. The notation was made by Surendranath Bandopadhyay and it is included in Swarabitan 36. It falls into the category of 'Bichitra'. In this rendition I have tried to maintain absolute fidelity to the original notation and the arrangement of music is also fairly traditional. At times I really feel that being thoroughly 'conventional' can also be kind of an experimentation. Koustabh Chakrabarty, a gifted artiste and a dear dear friend, has graced the effort with his painting - 'Akashbhora Surjo Tara' the title of which is also, interestingly, borrowed from the poet himself.
