This is a collaborative venture with Subhajit Roychoudhury. We chose two of Tagore's creations, a song and a poem, which appeared to be rather complementary to each other as far as the thematic essence is concerned. Both of these pieces encapsulate one of the leitmotifs of the Rabindranath's relationship with his 'Jiban Debata' - the supreme spirit guiding him through the mundane with fleeting glimpses of the divine. The poet is deeply aware of the transcendental power of complete submission but, at the same time, desperately limited with his worldly ties. The human ego and its petty demands invariably come between him and his ideal being deferring the destined union till eternity. These articulations are intensely poetic, profoundly philosophical and movingly pure. In our renditions we have tried to be as sincere as possible. We felt that these creative pieces are complete in their simple elegance and any attempt of further embellishment would be ostentatious.
