Rabindranath Thakur composed this song in 1918. It falls into the category of 'Bichitra' and it is included in Swarabitan No. 34 which is also entitled as 'Geetabithika'. The tonal structure of the song is apparently similar to the common melodic pattern of Baul songs and the rhythm is also a simple 3/3, that is, Dadra. But if one follows the notation mindfully one can discover the unique nuances and subtle tonal plays of the composition. The song is a musical celebration of the philosophical consciousness which is able to envisage multiple selves within a single being. It is also very important to note here that in this rendition I have used the word 'dripta' instead of 'dipta' as it is generally found in the comparatively recent editions of 'Geetabithika'. Actually according to the edition published in the year 1926 (when the poet was alive and, as we can expect that the publication was done under his direct supervision) the word was 'dripta' and not 'dipta'. In fact, in the original manuscript also, which is still preserved at Rabindra Bhavan, Vishwabharati, it is 'dripta' not 'dipta'. For some unknown unexplained reason in the edition of 1970 the word was changed. So far asy training in Rabindrasangeet is concerned it is always preferable to stick to the versions which were approved by the poet himself.
