#Indianflute #Tagoresong #kacapi #Tagoresong #kacapi #Indianflute The idea of doing 'Eso Amar Ghore' with Indian flute and Indonesian Kacapi came quite suddenly during an afternoon free jamming session in Kartikeya's Gurgaon villa last summer. The very next morning I, Kartikeya and Rahul - all three of us - rushed for the recording and I saw it for myself how the immense musical possibilities of a more or less familiar Tagore song could be multiplied with a not-so-familiar soundscape and a little difference in treatment. We even tried to make a video with the help of Rahul's brother. But unfortunately the shots taken were not sufficient as I had to come back to Kolkata the very next day. This is one of my most favourite compositions of Rabindranath. The song was created in Raga Desh in 1926, and comes under the category of Love. The notation was made by Dinendranath Tagore himself, and later, in an edited form, it was included in 'Shaapmochan'. A translation of the lyric is as follows : Come, come to my abode, Reveal yourself from my innermost depths. Unlock the dream-door and step into the daylight, So that I could behold you with sublime delight. Come out forever from the momentary impression, Come, come to my abode. Come along the joys and miseries of day-to-day life. Being an enigmatic hymn of hope in the spring air You mingled with the sigh of the woods. But now, please come, merrily blossom like a flower And take refuge in my breast. This collaborative project was very dear to us but we could not release it properly until Debayan appeared in the scene and literally rescued us from a kind of technological limbo. Koustabh with his magical artworks is always our trusted saviour as per the visual part. I must confess that the dreamy picturisation of this very song in the brilliant Bangla film 'Chhaya Surya' (1963) starring Sharmila Tagore has been some kind of an inspirational drive behind these paintings and "Shyamla", the dusky damsel, whose story is being told here might be a kindred spirit of Ghetu. So, here is the end product. Hope our sincere efforts touch your heart.
