Ramanathapuram is a Municipality town and district headquarters of Ramanathapuram District. It is second most populous town after Paramakudi in Ramanathapuram District. The town is located in south east Tamil Nadu and connected by NH 49 to Madurai from Rameswaram. East Coast Road is the major coastal road in east Tamil Nadu which connects the state capital Chennai and Ramanathapuram. This road also connects Ramanathapuram with Pondicherry in North , Tuticorin and Kanyakumari in South. Every five to ten minutes, the bus will Departure to Madurai and Rameshwaram from Ramanathapuram Bus stand.
