KIFLI INGREDIENTS 4 cups (500 g) of all-purpose flour, ½ tablespoon of salt, 1 tablespoon of instant yeast, 1 teaspoon of powdered sugar, 2 heaping tablespoons of sour cream, little less than 1 cup (100 ml) of milk, 1 cup (220 ml) of water. 1 egg for brushing the dough, coarse salt, whole caraway seed INSTRUCTIONS Kifli is a traditional Hungarian bread roll formed into a crescent shape before baking. It is an indispensable part of our cultural and culinary heritage, being almost as popular as white bread. Dissolve the yeast and sugar in lukewarm milk and sprinkle a little flour on top. Let it rest covered for 5 minutes. Add salt into the flour and mix it well. Add the sour cream, water and the milk with the risen yeast. Knead it into a smooth dough, then transfer to a floured working surface and knead it for a minute. Place it in a floured bowl and cover with a plastic wrap or kitchen towel. After resting, cut the dough into 8 pieces. On a lightly-oiled flat surface, roll out each of one into a triangular shape, about 0.1 inches (2-2.5) mm thick. Roll up the dough as you see it on the video. Place the kiflis into a lined baking pan, cover them and let them sit for 15 minutes. After resting, brush them with the egg and sprinkle coarse salt or caraway seeds on top. Before you place them in the oven, spray the kiflis with water. Bake them in a preheated 420 °F (215 °C) oven for the first 10 minutes, then reduce the heat to 395 °F (200 °C). Bake it 12 more minutes, until they become golden brown. To have a nice fluffy texture, place an extra pan with one cup of water in the bottom of the oven to moisten the air during baking. After baking spray the kiflis with water to give a nice, shiny look. Hozzávalók: 500 g liszt, 1 teáskanál só, 2 púpozott evőkanál tejföl, 1 teáskanál porcukor, 200-220 ml tej, 120 ml viz, 1 evőkanál szárított élesztő Dekoráció : 1 tojas, só, köménymag Keverjük össze a langyos tejet a cukorral és a szárított élesztővel. Letakarva pihentessük a gombócokat 15 percig.
