Each year, as the sun dips below the horizon, the people of Jaipur gather for a festival that’s as vibrant as the city itself – Chhath Puja! Nestled in the heart of Jaipur, Pondrik Park becomes a shimmering oasis where devotees and families come together to honor the Sun God and Chhathi Maiya. Chhath Puja isn’t just a festival; it’s a spiritual connection with nature. It’s a celebration of gratitude, seeking blessings for health, prosperity, and harmony. What makes this ritual truly special is its simplicity and reverence for the elements – water, sun, and earth. The rituals span four days, each with its own deep meaning. Devotees fast, some even abstaining from water, showing their deep devotion and endurance. The first day, they purify themselves and their homes. On the second day, known as “Kharna,” a humble meal is prepared and shared, marking a break in the fast. As dusk approaches on the third day, families gather by the water at Pondrik Park, offering “arghya” to the setting sun. The sight is mesmerizing – flickering diyas float on the water, and women in vibrant sarees hold baskets filled with fruits, sugarcane, and seasonal offerings. The park transforms into a radiant tableau of devotion and color. Finally, as dawn breaks, the final prayers are offered to the rising sun, signifying the end of the puja. It’s a moment of unity, reflection, and hope, leaving everyone inspired by the beauty and grace of Chhath Puja. And so, at Pondrik Park, Jaipur’s spirit shines brightly, celebrating life, nature, and the power of faith through the sacred rituals of Chhath Puja. #chhathpuja2024 #chhathpooja #chhathimaiya #jaipur
